The Edison High School Academic Building is designed to establish a dramatic and memorable visual identity on the campus — an identity that has been missing since the demolition of the original administration / classroom / auditorium building in the 1970s. The new building provides state-of-the-art classrooms and learning labs, as well as a much needed lecture hall and presentation space for students to foster their communication skills. Upon first stepping inside the new Academic Building your eyes are drawn upward. The soaring windows and lofty ceiling are truly stirring in the abounding natural light. In keeping with the school’s heritage for technical education, a binary code environmental graphic pattern is woven onto the sun screen shading the west-facing classrooms. With features like naturally illuminating clerestory windows, and spacious classrooms and hallways, this high-performance, sustainably-minded design brings together the rich history and bright future of Edison High School.
