Darden Architects has a strong connection to the regional community. We take great pride in opportunities to support our governmental organizations through design. Projects in this vein include work for local Public Safety, and Municipal Agencies. Moreover, Darden Architects’ Civic design and planning work is positively influenced by the range of experience we possess in other areas. The functional purpose of the building as desired by the client is our cardinal concern. The design appearance, material quality and experience of the end user blend as our foundational goals with any project.

A look back
With rumors of Cuban and Soviet collusion the “Cuban Missile Crisis” is in full swing, the Space Needle is constructed in Seattle, Andy Warhol paints his first Campbell’s Soup can and the Beatles release “Love Me Do.” Its 1962, the firm had been in business just 3 years, and Fresno County is growing rapidly. Already a vibrant Agricultural producer, Fresno County is busy growing a wide range of goods including Cotton, Grapes and Apricots; and shipping them to market around the state and country. Charged to inspect and regulate the export and fair market value of this bounty, the Fresno County Department of Weights and Measures contracts with Darden Architects to design and oversee construction of a weigh station. This structure was honored in 1963 by the American Iron and Steel Institute, with an award for “Design in Steel.”
