Clark Intermediate School Administration & Classroom Building

Clovis Unified School District

The original Administration and Classroom building was torn down after 72 years of service to make way for the updated iteration. The New Administration and Classroom building brings a dynamic shift in the design tone for new growth of the campus. Along the exterior, bold blue blocks of color draw the eye and provide stable volumes beneath the elevated roof line. Concrete masonry bricks decorate the north end of the two story building in patterns reminiscent of Native American woven baskets. This unique motif was devised to enunciate the school mascot: “The Chieftains”. The most recognizable and unique design feature lies at the entrance to campus: by placing steel lettering upside-down and backwards within the roof overhang, designers have created a shadow graphic that moves along with the sun, displaying the name of the school: “Clark”. By opting for a two story design, the campus has captured additional site space.  The building houses administrative offices, consolidated health services and 12 classrooms.
